International Trade Club - Brilliant Breakfast

The International Trade Club Breakfast meeting offers new and experienced traders, the chance to expand and update their knowledge, benefit from a wide range of informative presentations and enjoy a fabulous breakfast.

Guest Speakers:


Richard Horn – Business Partner and CoFounder of SI Risk a leading risk management company who specialise in reducing risks associated with travel and security. Nathan highlighted the risk assessments needed when travelling to overseas destinations, aiming in on the Middle East and assessing every possibility for your business. 

Helen Cowley: Tax Partner at Cassons, discussed the current VAT rules governing the supply of goods to other EU member states. Helen evaluated the likely impact of Brexit and the differences between dispatches and exports. The potential requirements for UK businesses to register for VAT in overseas jurisdictions if acting as importer in those countries was explored.

Mike Nunnerley: International Sales Manager, SolX Energy Limited shared with everyone how using LinkedIn helped this Burnley-based company sell their refrigeration technology into one of Australia’s largest supermarkets.

The final speaker of the morning was Stef Heywood from the Chamber. Stef is working on the Reginal Programme that supports exporters. The programme, which runs until October 2018, offers a range of support to businesses. This includes tailored support to meet the specific needs of companies. This may include financial support to attend an exhibition overseas. There are regular events planned and as well as overseas missions. Specialist consultants can also be made available to assist companies with specific issues.
