International Trade Club Breakfast Meeting

Event Date: 26 April 2012

The event held at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel & Spa covered both product recall and packaging regulations applicable to anyone involved in the International Trade arena.

It only takes one product flaw, which may slip through a company’s quality control procedures, before a potential loss running into hundreds of thousands of pounds can occur. Our speaker, Ian Bailey, Class Underwriter at Catlin Insurance covered: Recall trends, Product safety regulations, claims examples and impact on businesses, the insurance solution and the use of recall and product safety consultants in crisis management. On top of the ever evolving recall, one of the main tasks facing any international trader is to make sure that goods reach their buyers in perfect condition. The key is to get your export packaging right.  As well as making sure your goods are securely packaged, you also have to check that they’re appropriately marked or labelled to ensure they’re handled properly while in transit.  Barbara Ruffin, guest speaker from Palletways, shared some of their experiences and lessons learned and provide top tips for exporters on how to package their products properly.
