International Trade BBQ Lunch, UK Bribery Act and Implementing Social Media

Event Date: 07 July 2011

The International Trade Club is a popular event for Exporters and Importers and a great opportunity to network, learn and lunch.  As well as enjoying the fabulous barbeque, delegates received some great hints and tips to take away from the interactive learning sessions.

Speakers:

Gareth Price, an Associate in the Business Crime Team at Forbes Solicitors, introduced the UK Bribery Act which has the potential to affect every UK company in a session that will provide an overview of the legislation, what it could mean for you on a practical level, how you should prepare and what professional assistance is available to assist you. Organisations need to put in place (and continually monitor) a robust internal anti-corruption regime. In doing so, they will be able to offer a defence against prosecution for
failing to prevent bribery.

Shaf Khan, is at the cutting edge of IT solutions for the Chamber of Commerce and our in-house resource for identifying and working effectively with Social Media.  Twitter has taken the world by storm.  With millions onboard this social network, Shaf will explain how you can harness this technology to communicate with your customers, engage with a new audience, find suppliers and how you can use it to drive more traffic to your website or blog.  Shaf introduced the basics and tools available to you in order to take advantage of this thriving technology.

Barbeque: hosted by a team of outstanding Chefs at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel:-
