Doing Business in Russia

International Trade Club Meeting, 31st March 2011, 10:00 -  12:00 followed by buffet lunch

The Russian economy has left the crisis far behind and is growing strongly. Heavy government investment in public services are resulting in opportunities for outside investment, and importing of foreign goods. The Chamber of Commerce East Lancashire was pleased to present this opportunity for local companies to obtain an insight into how to do business with Russia and invited local companies to meet with experienced individuals and companies from specialised fields.

Barry Martin -  Managing Director, The Russia House Ltd
Barry who started his life long career and business in the 1970’s starting up The Russia House Ltd and handles commercial travel to Russia. The company expanded its business format to include Freight, Exhibition Organisation, Translation and Trade Consultancy.  The company also expanded geographically, opening offices in Moscow, New York, Stockholme, Hong Kong, Amsterdam and Edinburgh.

David Cant – Director, Albion (Overseas) Ltd
David has worked with Russia for his entire career, including several years living in Moscow. David advises companies on doing business in Russia, and was MD of the Russo-British Chamber of Commerce before concentrating on his own company, Albion (Overseas) Ltd.

Gary O’Grady -  Blackthorne International Transport
Has been involved in transporting goods to Russia for over 20 years which has given him a rich insight in to the workings of both logistic operations in Russia as well as the dilemmas of working with Russian customs. He is founder and Managing Director of Blackthorne International Transport who specialize in the delivery of goods to Russia. He is always hands on in his business, quite often travelling to Moscow and beyond to facilitate the smooth running of Blackthorne operations
